Talking on the phone while driving is illegal in Australia, yet 80% of young drivers admit they regularly do. VicRoads wanted a new way to engage its young audience by speaking with them through a medium they were interested in and familiar with. So we developed the driving game CityGT. Using world-first technology, people could use their phones to wirelessly connect and play CityGT on the Melbourne Federation Square big screen. While playing, the game is suddenly hijacked by an unexpected phone call, reminding players about the dangers of talking on mobile phones while driving.
