Indian Premier League (IPL) – the Twenty20 format of cricket – is the biggest event in India that features 8 state teams. During the IPL season, Virgin Mobile wanted to advertise its lowest inter-state call rates. We did this by creating India Panga League (Panga: a hindi word for taking potshots at someone). This ‘League’ featured verbal battles between 8 passionate cricket fans from 8 states, over inter-state calls. We created 105 such verbal battles that went online everyday during the 45-day long event. Each film was provocative, and accessible on www.indianpangaleague.in, facebook, and other social media sites.
