Email phishing and social engineering are the most common cyber attacks. So how do they work and what role does human psychology play? Experts Ryan Kalember, Executive Vice President of Cybersecurity Strategy at Proofpoint and Sherrod DeGrippo, Senior Director of Threat Research and Detection at Proofpoint believe these two elements have a role to play and how Proofpoint intends to educate and help business protect themselves against being hacked.

In 2018, the average cost of a cyberattack on an enterprise was 1.1m — up 52% from 2017. 60% of small businesses that are victim to an attack such as ransonware are out of business within six months. And while leading-edge preventative technology exists, there remains one weak spot in the battle against hackers and their phishing tactics — employees. To highlight this issue, cyber security specialists Proofpoint developed a podcast series aimed not only at the security industry, but the general public too. The series combined education and entertainment to deliver useful, actionable information to businesses and the public in an engaging way. On a tiny media budget, we achieved almost 1M impressions and 2,000 podcast downloads establishing Proofpoint as a major player in the protection of businesses, their employees and their data. Due to its popularity, we are currently producing further episodes.
