Labor Contract Large Envelope BACKGROUND The only legal tool to protect youth labor rights is labor contract. However, most of teenagers work without the contract because they walk on eggshells around their employer who would possibly be unhappy about the contract. So, we think of an easy way to help teenagers can demand to write the labor contract without an effort to read employer’s face. IDEA Health certificate is a mandatory document for employers to get from their employees. We printed labor contract on the envelop for the health certificate which all employees should hand over to employers anyway. Eventually, the labor contract can be delivered without realizing it DESIGN Two copies of the standard labor contract are printed on the envelop with some phrases informing the duty of signing labor contract. Documents are neatly detachable with the perforated line so employer and youth employee can have one for each. RESULT Since the envelope had been distributed to the public health centers and 142 high schools in all over Incheon city, youth labor contract has been increased by 6.3%.
Labor contract is a legal tool to protect employees from the raw deals. However 60% of youth labors were having a hard time to ask their employers to sign the contract. Meanwhile, health certificate is a mandatory document that youth employees should hand in to their employers. We got an idea from the envelope which you put the certificate in. We printed copies of labor contract on the front side of the envelope. As a result, youth labors feel easier to ask labor contract when they submit the necessary document to their employers.
