Held since 2004 in the commercial capital of India, the Mumbai Marathon (with TATA as the title sponsor) is amongst the top ten such races in the world. This ad appeared on race day, the third Sunday of January 2020, months before the pandemic hit India.
With origins in classical Greece marathons are a uniquely participative sport. Indeed the TATA Mumbai Marathon is about the community of runners (both elite and amateur). And about those drawn to the event in Mumbai. Our task, in the space of a single print ad, was to evoke the spirit and atmosphere of this day in January.
