With over 25 million coins minted (one for every Australian) and released into circulation, the Donation Dollar is in itself a piece of outdoor, resulting in over 25 million individual billboards in the hands of every Australian – inspiring the holder to donate it to a cause, a charity or those in need.

The Donation Dollar is specifically designed to be a clean, clear and concise communication of what the coin is, and what the holder should do with it when they find it in their change. The inclusion of the green centre, set aside the gold of the coin, is designed to reflect the classic ‘green and gold’ colours of Australia, to visually instil a spirit of collective generosity and help inspire the coin holder to give to other less fortunate Australians. The Donation Dollar is not only the first Australian $1 coin to feature a colour but also the first to feature an interactive design, with the green centre designed to wear down the more the coin is donated, revealing golden ripples emanating from the centre of the coin – a symbol of the ongoing impact the coin is making in the lives of those in need.
