In this radio spot, we start off hearing a regular retail ad for the Sky Sports channels. But it slowly starts to go off topic, drifting from tangent to tangent, and the listener starts thinking “what is going on?” That’s when the rant is interrupted by our second voiceover, which explains that over 160,000 adult New Zealanders suffer from ADHD, and if the listener knows they also struggle to stay on topic, they may be one of them, and should visit the website for support. It then ends with a sponsorship message from Sky.
MUSIC: Heavy rock VO: (Blaring, excited retail voice) Now it’s easier than ever to find the sports you love on Sky Sport. With 12 dedicated channels you can… MUSIC: Starts to fade out VO: (Suddenly perplexed and reminiscent, losing the retail tone) 12 sports channels? Remember when there were only 3 channels, total? Now there’s an endless line of options to choose from… like a sushi train… (Starts speaking in soliloquy, amusing himself) Now that’s a weird idea. Who decided to mix a restaurant with a baggage carousel? Can’t stand baggage carousels. Why does no one ever stand behind the line? It’s like trying to get dogs to wait for a biscuit. Oh that reminds me, I have to walk the dog. Do dogs realise we’re walking them? Or do they think they’re walking us?
