Through classic “Industrial Testing”, a calm German man, speaking German (with Chinese subtitles), makes women understand at first sight: With the most rigorous German spirit, Mr. Mark craft weapon that defends health instead of fancy, soft but weak bread.

Cultural / Context information for the jury

 In Taiwan, food safety incidents happened continually (including two bread brands). Furthermore, we noticed that Taiwanese tend to see bread as a “main meal” rather than snack/ dessert. Therefore, when main competitors, such as Japanese and French bread emphasize on flavors and tempting appearance, we went back to what consumers ask for a main meal: Healthy element.  Taiwanese are very fond of Japanese brands’ products. But when it comes to “manufacturing skill” , “Profession” and “rigorous standard”, we believe that only Germany could top Japan. Meanwhile, having influenced by Hollywood movies and German cars, Taiwanese people (especially females) always have positive and admiring attitude believing Germany could build the world strongest weapon. There’s no negative link towards war.  We deliberately used German (with Chinese subtitles), which is seldom heard in Taiwan, for audio to arouse TA’s curiosity from the very beginning.

In a minimalism and mysterious lab stood one good looking German man wearing a perfectly fit suit. He broke the ice by asking (in German with Chinese subtitles): “Who said Germans are boring?” --- a stereotype for Germans. Before long, he answered his own question. However, instead of attempting to correct the bias, he started to say that he agrees and tell what German people are like. “No matter who said it, He is right.” He said. “We craft our tanks, U-47 submarines, top-of the line Sports car and we carry this spirit doing every single thing.” Meanwhile, he took out a piece of “Mr. Mark bread” and put it on the spotless stainless steel workbench. It felt like he took out an exquisitely made weapon. Then, with his rational and deliberate narrative, various classical “Industrial Tests”, which are well known by Taiwanese, appear rhythmically on screen. First, The Crash Test. Mr. Mark and competitor’s bread hit the concrete walls at high speed at the same time. Clashing heavily, both breads left grease on the cement wall. Through the grease mark on the wall, it shows that Mr. Mark used less oil than other bread. The big steel ball swung down from the far end and dented Mr. Mark’s bread. However, less than one second later, the dent of Mr. Mark’s bread bounced back, as if it has never been hit. Mr. Mark’s bread and the ordinary bread came from different direction at high speed like F1 race cars. The two pieces of bread clashed when they came across each other. Ordinary bread went off course, slipped and rolled over. Green onions on the bread flew into the sky because of centrifugal force. Mr. Mark’s bread stayed on the same course and moved forward. Super and German man’s voice come out: Solid and Rigorous More than 51% whole grain fiber-rich *************************************************************************** Fourth, The Breaking System Test (The AEB Test] Harsh car break sound came out, and then Mr. Mark’s bread and the ordinary bread stopped at high speed at the same time. Ordinary bread’s hidden chemical additive all spilt out on the track because of the reaction force, and the bread could not safely stop and went forward to sandbag zone because of its unhealthy ingredients. On the other hand, Mr. Mark’s bread, with no chemical additives, perfectly stopped right before the stop line. He said firmly and proudly: “We are not into French romance.” “We are not into Japanese sensibility.” “We are into crafting weapons!…..Weapons that defend your health!” Then, with expecting attitude, he nipped a bite of Mr. Mark’s bread and put it in his mouth… He showed an expression of total satisfaction and enjoyment. It seems like the audience could hear his inner voice: “How can it be so delicious?!” ************************************************* Black screen appears. With sound effects of German submarine’s SONAR, Mr. Mark’s high production standard (USP) appears one after another.
