The animated film, “Cloud,“ takes a lighthearted, storybook-like approach as it tackles the dark side of storing files online. It shows us how our stored files make data centers consume more energy and how they contribute to almost 830 million tons of carbon dioxide emitted annually—that’s 2% of the global CO2 emissions. By simply deleting your old, unused files, you can help lower carbon emissions
Metro Manila, the capital of the Philippines, is one of the densest, most populated urban centers in the world. We wanted to convey those cramped living and working conditions in the film. We also wanted to create a clear visual association between old files we store in the cloud and how those can contribute to carbon emissions.
