To launch Gojek's ride hailing and food delivery services into a number of new markets in South East Asia we created a visual metaphor that represents what you can expect from Gojek's services. The campaign demonstrates how Gojek aims to remove everyday frictions and obstacles to bring more people, more flow in daily life – when everything just works. Therefore, a city was created – a place where everything just flows – representing everything customers can expect from Gojek. It’s a stylised world where people, motorcycles and cars can seamlessly co-exist and take the chaos out of your life. At the centre of it all is a grand performance where all elements come together in an unbelievable, coordinated stunt of an epic scale to form… a Gojek logo. Because what better way to introduce a new brand to the market than to make the whole campaign about the logo itself.
Gojek is Southeast Asia’s leading on-demand multi-service platform. In many Southeast Asia cities, congestion is inevitable and is a struggle people have to face daily. This in combination with added friction like rain or heat, makes ride hailing and food delivery part of the solution to make everyday life easier. The Gojek City was designed to recreate a vibrant and bustling city that can authentically reflect of any South East Asian country like Vietnam, Thailand or Indonesia where food delivery and ride hailing are done by bikes and cars.
To help bring our vision of a perfectly synchronised Gojek city to life, we looked to create a camera journey that mirrors the film’s core concept: FLOW. Nimbly-weaving through the action – slinking under, over or around obstacles – the camera is designed to inspire a sense of immediacy, inserting viewers into the hectic inner action. At times it becomes one of the many vehicles, obeying the rhythm and twist of the enveloping traffic. We then juxtapose this visceral immersion with graceful sweeps, transcending viewers from ground-level intensity to an elevated view that reveals the scale of the action. The setting, style and aesthetic of the film were designed to add some visual sass and edge to our Gojek world. Highly stylised and cinematic, without being overtly polished to preserve a sense of 'authenticity'. Set in the night, a triadic color scheme was used to reminiscent a traffic light.
