'Second Shave' is a real story of a young Thai man's journey of ordination. It tells the story of him preparing to go live in a temple as a monk for 3 months, as is customary in Thailand for most young man to do so as a rite of passage. The story is told through the eyes of his father, watching this sacred ceremony of the 'second shave' - the shaving of his hair and eyebrows.
In Thailand, the world's most heavily Buddhist country, it's customary for young men to undergo ordination, to live in temples as 'temporary monks' from 3 months to up to a year. For the rest of the world, the first shave signifies a young man growing up. In Thailand, it's the second shave, the shaving of the head and eyebrows, that is the real rite of passage. 'Second Shave' is a real story of a young man's journey of ordination. It was launched on Thailand's Father's Day to celebrate this proud moment with fathers and sons all over the nation.
