In 1905 New Zealand's first fully representative rugby team toured the United Kingdom. They weren't known as the 'All Blacks' back then nor were they professional sportsmen. They were a team made up of farmers and coal miners. Simple working men. It took them three months on a steamship just to get there but when they did, they won 34 of their 35 matches. Scotland, Ireland and England all lost to the superior skills of the colonials. Wales were the only international team to avoid defeat winning 3-0. These men and their success earned them the name, ‘The Originals’. They set the standard for a 100 year of New Zealand rugby. This year the All Blacks are returning to England to compete in the Rugby World Cup and the title, World Champions.
