Brief Explanation

To launch Hotels.com's 'The Obvious Choice' endline in Australia, we focused on the only people that don't use the world's most obviously superior booking site - travel rookies. The same people that make other silly travel faux pas; like Kate, the woman in this spot who forgot to get her shots before travelling to a country full of wild, over-enthusiastic monkeys.

Creative Execution

CLIENT: Hotels.com TITLE: Monkey LENGTH: 30 seconds The spot opens in a South East Asian forest, where tourists wander through a sunlit clearing. In the foreground, we see a woman taking a photo of herself as a baby monkey perches on her shoulder. From her appearance, she's obviously a bit of a travel rookie. In beautiful slow motion, we pull back to reveal a much bigger, far less friendly monkey jumping towards her head. We hear a voice. VO: The Brown Capuchin monkey. Commonly known as the reason you get shots before travelling. Well, not you, Kate. You forgot. Just like you forgot to use Hotels.com Rewards. We cut away to a close-up of the adult monkey, teeth bared in a frightening grin. VO: So now, instead of getting a free night with every ten...you'll have to settle for tetanus. We cut back to Kate, who's beginning to realise that something is heading her way. She starts to turn in slow motion. But it's far too late to dodge the incoming monkey. VO: But it's not all bad, Kate. Monkey saliva also causes Jungle Madness. So, in four minutes, you'll look back on this and laugh. We cut to our endframe, just as the monkey is about to make impact on our terrified travel rookie. VO: And laugh and laugh. Supers appear on the endframe. Super: Hotels.com Book 10 nights, get 1 free. The obvious choice.
