A Latin American maid was let loose on the streets of Sydney causing quite the fuss as she played out a series of stunts on unsuspecting members of the public.
When MBA approached us to develop a hidden camera video for the launch of Devious Maids, we watched some content online and using our understanding of the specific audience that the series targets along with what works on Youtube, we devised a concept that revolved around sexual double entendre and innuendo. A role such as this requires a talent that can think fast on their feet and be very comfortable in their own skin. With a limited budget allocation, The Precinct proceeded to perform that casting process internally and put the brief out far & wide. We saw over 25 candidates in the first session where we tested their ability to improv and role play with what ever was provided to them. The secondary feature was being Latino as this would play in well with the television series. When we met Paloma, we knew we'd covered off the secondary element as she'd recently arrived from Guatemala, but it was during the improv session that we knew we'd found the perfect person for the role as she didn't take herself too seriously, was willing to have some fun with the role and was extremely quick-witted. On the day she was given a script to follow where possible but left free to ad lib given the situations she found herself in. The result was hilarious and entertaining to say the least.
