Generally, most people are not heartless but the lives of the orphans are just too far away from their own daily lives. Therefore, we had to find an emotional trigger to grab their attention. And we found birthdays. We all celebrate our birthday, but for orphans who have no one, it's not different from any other day. A lot of them don’t even know their own birthdays. The birthdays of orphans act as a trigger for the success of our objective: gaining more benefactors or donors.
The Foundation for Children is taking care of many, many orphans who have no one else to support their lives. They provide both physical as well as emotional support.
People use calendars every day. With this calendar, we bring their daily lives closer to the orphans’s lives by telling the true stories of the orphans' birthdays that nobody cares about. People can read about their wishes and see illustrations of their lives. Some will move you to tears. And as easy as tearing each day off the calendar, the paper turns into a happy birthday postcard on the back. You can write down and send wishes to the orphans, choose to donate or even become their benefactor. It will change their lives forever.
Our calendar has helped raise awareness and reach more donors than ever before. Almost 60% of the calendar owners so far have sent happy birthday wishes and many have decided to become long-term benefactors. For our orphans, just receiving happy birthday cards for the first time in their lives has already made them very happy and feel important. Just from a piece of paper.
