Forest & Bird protect all of New Zealand's native species and wild places, but they receive no government funding. To continue doing the work they do, they desperately needed new members. We wanted people to discover for themselves how opening up their wallets can make a huge difference – it can help put an endangered bird back in its natural environment. With this thought in mind, we ran a series that used three different dollar denominations, the $5 note which features the Hoiho – New Zealand’s Yellow-Eyed Penguin, the $10 note which features the Whio – a species of Blue Duck and the $50 note which features the Kokako – the Blue Wattled Crow.
