Brief Explanation

au, the second largest cell phone communication company brand name in Japan, held an event featuring a smartphone app they had developed in conjunction with a live artist’s musical performance at Ryogoku Kokugikan, the holy ground of Japanese Sumo wrestling. Each audience member’s phone, installed with the app, was assigned to play different instrument parts, which, in synch, recreated the musical composition. The current CM is a documentary CM of that event. The CG’s and VFX’s were all part of the event. The event, the CM, and the app in of themselves all became a social phenomenon.
