Write a short summary of what happens in the film.

An introspection about what ‘home’ is takes a Ladakhi biker away from the chaos of the city to the tranquility of the country side, where she belongs. As she rides back home in the winters of Himalayas, we witness her reminiscing about memories as though some part of her has never left this world. She passes through different terrains, interacting with locals, giving us a glimpse of the culture, the faith and the way of life in Ladakh. Her journey ends as she reaches her house in a remote village to witness something purely magical. The film is interlaced with a metaphoric layer that’s a reminder of the Buddhist philosophy that dwells upon on interconnectedness of the nature, the bond between the beings and embracing this magical creation. Maybe as humans it’s time for us to go back to our roots - Nature.

Cultural / Context information for the jury

The film is set in Ladakh, a buddhist state in the Himalayas. Its core thought is highly influenced by the Buddhist values to respect all life. It reflects the way people live in the Himalayas, embrace the way of nature, coexisting in harmony with other species, with a sense of surrender, humility, empathy and gratitude. Subtle cultural cues around faith & the circle of life are interlaced in the film - stacked stones are a symbol of a prayer for a member of the family; the warp and weft of a carpet being weaved represent the mother and the child conceived within her. The finished fabric represents the birth of a child. The chorus in the music that features in the film is a local lullaby sung by the women of Ladakh to a new-born life.

Tell the jury anything relevant about the direction. Do not name the director.

A conscious decision has been made in choosing a female lead, which is seldom seen in bike commercials. A local Himalayan girl on the RE Himalayan - making the product and the protagonist one entity. To showcase the introspection of the protagonist, the film was shot in the harsh winters of Ladakh utilising the winter light to create film-noir, low-key lighting style mood. The musical theme of the film is inspired by a local lullaby from the region. The chorus in the film has been recorded on location sung by local Ladakhi women and then orchestrated in the studio. Visual symbolism has also been adapted in the film - with the tree of life that highlights the connection between beings, to seeing the protagonist in a Ladhaki robe signifying her acceptance of ‘home’ and ending the film on a fallen tree showcasing where humanity is headed.
