Through this material, we commemorate the 10th year since the Tourism Act of 2009 of the Philippines was signed into law. Before that, the Philippines was considered more of a hidden spot only familiar to those “in the know”.Since then the tourism sector of the country has boomed, creating life changing opportunities for Filipinos in all walks of life.Laborers became guides through the oceans. Housewives became sea navigators. Grandmothers became artists. In this spot we feature and celebrate real people's lives that are changed by tourism, while at the same time painting a tapestry of the Filipino culture and heritage that goes beyond just beaches, resorts, and Spanish era churches.
