Write a short summary of what happens in the film.

To launch Gojek's ride hailing and food delivery services into a number of new markets in South East Asia we created a visual metaphor that represents what you can expect from Gojek's services. The campaign demonstrates how Gojek aims to remove everyday frictions and obstacles to bring more people, more flow in daily life – when everything just works. Therefore, a city was created – a place where everything just flows – representing everything customers can expect from Gojek. It’s a stylised world where people, motorcycles and cars can seamlessly co-exist and take the chaos out of your life. At the centre of it all is a grand performance where all elements come together in an unbelievable, coordinated stunt of an epic scale to form… a Gojek logo. Because what better way to introduce a new brand to the market than to make the whole campaign about the logo itself.

Cultural / Context information for the jury

Gojek is Southeast Asia’s leading on-demand multi-service platform. In many Southeast Asia cities, congestion is inevitable and is a struggle people have to face daily. This in combination with added friction like rain or heat, makes ride hailing and food delivery part of the solution to make everyday life easier. The Gojek City was designed to recreate a vibrant and bustling city that can authentically reflect of any South East Asian country like Vietnam, Thailand or Indonesia where food delivery and ride hailing are done by bikes and cars.

Tell the jury about the ambitions & challenges of production process.

Our ambition was to create a seamless world where everything just flowed. The Gojek city we built was made up of smaller elements and choreographed actions by hundreds of talents where everything happened in perfect synchronicity. We wanted the film to feel as real as possible so everything including the cars and bikes driving on the wall and in the cage were shot as-it-happened, instead of relying on post-production. This campaign was for South East Asia but had to be filmed in Ukraine during the height of the pandemic, as borders in almost all the Asian countries were closed. That meant the production team needed to search all over Europe for the best Asian talents for feature roles and hundreds of extras for the set. The set took 10 days to complete, involving 25 cars, 15 motorbikes and as many stunt drivers, looping the giant motordrome 75 times.
