The film follows the online love affair between Ella and Brandon. Successful at running a bridal studio, but unsuccessful in love, Ella signs onto an online dating website where she matches with Brandon. Soon begins their roller coaster online dating life. Witty banter and charming texts keep the two lonely souls engrossed in each other’s company. A traveling businessman, Brandon’s work travels end up adding constant hurdles to the two meeting in real life. However, this doesn’t stop both of them from long conversations through the night. The film gives the audience a fly-on-the-wall view of their growing fondness for each other, which grows into falling in love online, even though they have never met offline. On the day, the two are finally going to meet Brandon’s mum falls ill in HK and everything starts to unravel. Will Ella and Brandon have the happily-ever-after every couple dreams of?
The 30-something Singaporean woman gives precedence to following career milestones and goals while putting her love life on the back burner. She is smart, confident and self-aware. She has heard of one too many women who have fallen prey to online prince charmings, and strongly believes this could never happen to her as she can spot an online scam a mile away. Yet she falls for the charms of the first man she meets on an online dating site who fits her definition of Mr. Right - professionally successful, well-travelled, family oriented and confident. But little does she know, online and over the phone, scams are not always so obvious: anonymity and subterfuge can hide a scammer’s real identity and intentions. A moment of weakness, loneliness, or fear can lower her guard, and put aside all rational thinking to get emotionally invested in an online love scam.
