In a time when we are trying to get a handle on our complicated lives there is an unlikely source of inspiration - an easy going, uncomplicated beer. Naturally we created an entire belief system around Carlton Dry, and a long overdue return to the classic Aussie beer ad... Hidden in remote mountains is the Temple of Dry, students dedicate themselves to the ways of Carlton Dry. Here the Dry Master teaches a rigorous regime, based upon the beer’s qualities. The students must learn to be balanced, smooth and less bitter. They must learn to Be Like the Beer. Throughout the television spots, Master Dry is seen enlightening his students on the philosophy of Carlton Dry while they undertake rigorous training to be more like the beer such as, walking on water, balancing on top of beer cans, and pulling out bottles from troughs of ice.
This ad is a tribute to classic martial arts films of the 1970s. To ensure we respected cultural sensitivities, we engaged leading Cultural Production Specialist Maria Tran to oversee all creative elements of the campaign. Maria is a filmmaker, martial artist and advocate for cultural diversity and racial equity in the arts.
