Write a short summary of what happens in the film

This is a story about the “ties” that connect a father to his son, today to tomorrow, and someone’s hands to another’s. The film opens with the scene of the father’s funeral and is depicted from the viewpoint of his son. The story is sure to give you a renewed joy of having chosen and driving a BMW.

Cultural/Context information for the jury

The protagonists are a father who is an indigo-dyeing artisan running a 100-year-old business and his son. Indigo-dyeing is Japan’s traditional craft of dyeing threads and fabrics with indigo. Indigo-dyers use their hands to check the temperature and density of the dye, which leaves their hands permanently dyed blue.
