The film highlights the unsaid and unspoken imbalance that has plagued almost every household in India. A couple is asked to share their daily routine. Through which the imbalance of the responsibilities and work they share is established for the viewer, as well as the couple themselves. In our society there has been a prolonged protest by women for equal rights. Even though over the years, the scenario has improved. People have become more aware and open minded. We as a society have started to acknowledge women and men as equals. Yet, the remnants of the patriarchal mindset can be seen in our day to day living. These remnants are highlighted in the film and it ends with the UNESCO’s 2019 #BalanceforBetter tagline.
The viewing context is that although many urban cities boast of equal rights for women and equal opportunity for all, the patriarchy is so deeply ingrained in our minds that not many understand the social imbalance we’ve created knowingly and unknowingly. Even today, there are many tasks like cooking, washing, cleaning etc. that are expected out of a woman, irrespective of her being a home-maker or a working woman.
