This commercial was produced with the intention of spurring demand for mushrooms, often thought of as an autumn food, during summer through the use of the Mushroom Man character. One summer day in a forest, a boy hunts for bugs and comes upon a face embedded in a tree. The face insists it is a mushroom, but it is quite obvious it is just a regular man. The boy is unruffled as he questions the man. The man suddenly yells out a recipe he recommends for the summer months. The boy starts craving it and runs home. He eats his mother’s cooking delightedly. However, impatient with the old man who never seems to listen, the boy calls the police. Is he really a mushroom? Or just a normal man? There are gimmicks throughout the film to make the audience strangely crave summer dishes with mushrooms after they watch it.
