Background

To celebrate 200 years of heritage, craftsmanship and Scottish origins, Superunion conceptualised the latest campaign film which tells the story of the heritage stationery brand entirely through paper. From its humble beginnings as a printing press in Glasgow, to the internationally recognised leader in high quality stationery that it is today, the Collins brand has come a long way. But as the company celebrates its 200-year anniversary this year, their sights are fixed on the future of the brand.

Describe the creative idea (40% of vote)

Collins are purveyors of the finest quality notebooks and journals. The brand is built around the idea that their products are the ‘home from what flows from within’. We took this brand essence and bought it to life through a narrative that traces back through Collins’ history and an animation style that weaves the product (paper journals) seamlessly into the story.

Describe the execution (40% of vote)

The brand film, created by Superunion in partnership with Lights and Shadows Productions, starts from the brand’s inception in 1819, and highlights key milestones throughout the centuries to the present day. Beautifully designed and highly detailed, the hand-crafted animation style film takes viewers on the journey of Collins, carving its own role in world history using paper as a medium to tell the brand’s story.

The result is a film set in an evolving, fluid paper world, emblematic of the brand idea and expressive of the product itself. The film was launched in Singapore, Australia, Japan and the UK.
