JEAN: This is it. Finally, a spot at a Grand Slam event. It was a long, lonely road.
Ever since I picked up my first racquet at 7. All those years of waking up at 6AM. Running 5Ks before sunrise. Stretches. Lunges. Swings. Squats. Hitting the ball. Hitting the wall. Practicing my forehands. Backhands. Serve. Volley and Smash.
Taking down opponents one by one. On grass. On clay. On shell.
But my coach had two words for me… YOU STINK.
So, I trained harder. Every day. Every night. I took down every opponent. And raised every trophy.
Until finally… I earned my Grand Slam spot.
I knew coach would be impressed. But you know what he told me?
I still stink.
