Brief Explanation

Health warnings on cigarette packs were first introduced in 2003, as a mandate by the World Health Organisation. From then, the warnings have visually become more and more graphic. These scare tactics, however, are no longer effective at encouraging smokers to break the habit. In this film, we explore using a different kind of warning, one that is closer to the hearts of smokers. To bring this message across, we follow the life story of two siblings and their emotional struggle in expressing how much their father’s smoking habit breaks their hearts. The love that the two siblings have for their family is painfully obvious. We catch their looks of longing as their father’s smoking habits keeps him away from family time, reflecting the true consequence of smoking– missing family time at dinner, and inability to keep up with their little ones.
