“The Third Wish” is based on a true story about Wei, who grew up in remote area. Wei’s mother, a low-income single working parent works at a crematorium, therefore Wei spent most of her childhood at her mom’s work place and had to take care of her father suffered from oral cancer. Her family background might be why Wei is diagnosed with Selective Mutism . Fortunately, Wei met an enthusiastic volunteer teacher. The teacher founds the reason Wei does not want to speak was because her father lost the ability to speak. She thought, if she cannot speak, her father would not feel alone. After the teacher communicated with Wei’s parents, Wei’s father started to make some changes, encouraged Wei to interact with others. Eventually, Wei had overcomes the Selective Mutism on step at a time. Through this ,CTCB Taiwan Life Insurance hopes more people would care about others .
