The Campaign

The top and bottom portions of each page represents a comparison between the time of the earthquake and now. The upper half are images that depict the progress of what people have produced over the course of 23 years. The lower half, characterized in black, expresses the devastation caused by the Great Earthquake and the absence of technology and countermeasures.

Creative Execution

As written in the copy, “On that day, at that moment, what it left to us was not just losses.” There was not just despair when we looked back at the disaster. This is a project that we, the Japanese, could look back on with pride; one that allows us to reflect on what we have accomplished in the aftermath of a new disaster and to be used as motivation to continue moving forward.

Indication of how successful the outcome was in the market

“Even though 23 years have passed, the images of Kobe still persists strongly when speaking of the earthquake disaster. Since that day, the visuals that expressed Kobe’s efforts from that day was impressive and remained in our hearts.” “We are encouraged to know that the splendors of the present are as important as looking back on our sorrows.” Many people sent emotional messages to the newspaper company. By choosing the theme of disaster, Kobe Newspaper has a responsibility to the future to continue to disseminate Kobe’s efforts to the world as a disaster power country. From now on, it will become the ideal way for the local newspaper company.
