Brief Explanation

At Christmas, Australians welcome blow-ins and drop-ins, tag alongs and plus ones. It's the 'More The Merrier' and that's the way we like it. And thanks to Aldi's Quality Christmas Range, you can have plenty to feed your crowd, whatever the size. This year, we're telling the story of Doug, a stubborn batsman whose forty year innings of backyard cricket drew people from far and wide.

One of Australia’s most successful Christmas 2017 spots, this is a beautiful and involving story that is well told by all parties, including the director and editor. With a distinct and quirky story to be told, the editor matched the director’s vision with his own creative outlook for the spot, putting the main character front and centre throughout the ages as the world turns around him. From tight shots that showcase character to wider shots that show time evolving around his stoic frame, this is an achievement for all of the parties involved in its creation.
