The virtual reality movie is set in the house of the “grandmother” in Minami Awaji City. It provides the user with the opportunity to experience eating together with others. By viewing this virtual reality video, one can enjoy the deliciousness of eating with others even at a lonely dinner table. (According to a Nagoya University researcher, even a VR video of a shared meal probably would be effective in this way.) The video features delicious dishes made from Minami Awaji food. Our goal was to impress upon people just how friendly and delicious the food of the city is by using a fresh, virtual reality-based method that confronts Japan's societal issue of eating alone.
