The Campaign

The World’s First Map Made with Emojis: GREEN EMOJI MAP. Using emojis, an invention by Japan, to introduce the famous spots in Japan as a map.Using their smartphone or PC, users could enter their recommendations, and share emojis in a 5 x 5 layout as tweets on social media.

Creative Execution

Using the universal communication tool of emojis, we designed a map that would delightfully surprise people around the world. For the user interface, we aimed to use emojis as much as possible, and refrained from using other form of text. Upon its launch, GREEN EMOJI MAP became a playground for everyone. It continues to evolve daily as more and more people edit and add their own recommendations for all regions of Japan.

Indication of how successful the outcome was in the market

GREEN EMOJI MAP generated a buzz immediately upon its release. With entries by users in various regions, the map now boasts more than 60,000 emojis and comments. Users expanded the fun of emojis by turning themselves into emojis or making their own maps. GREEN EMOJI MAP continues to showcase a new landscape of Japan’s charms. During your outings, treat yourself to GREEN LABEL, the most refreshing beer.

The target audience was females in their 20's~mid-30's. To make GREEN EMOJI MAP easily accessible and enjoyable for people as they are out and about, we chose to use mobile site as the platform.
