The Campaign

As a branding of a printing company, loving various printing expressions, we decided to experiment focusing on the various textures on surface. By applying various painting methods such as raised spot UV, gloss, matte, polarizing pearl, silk, foaming ink, and offset, on a nude motif, our objective was to make change on materials, making the audience imagine skin texture, and giving the urge to touch the poster.

Creative Execution

At the exhibition, we introduced the artwork series of 5 B1-sized posters as well as the production process. In order to actually convey the difference of the materials, a booth where visitors could touch and enjoy the materials were also prepared.

Indication of how successful the outcome was in the market

Many domestic design media have picked up about the exhibition, for its new poster expression using several printing methods. At the exhibition, many visitors were enjoying the posters, which its visual can change depending on angle and distance of one’s perspective, by physically moving their positions. As a result, we succeeded in widely spreading the quality of Toppan, along with the value and re-recognition of printing; which cannot be expressed through screen.

We conveyed the superb printing quality and the breadth of expressions which it makes it possible, to all whom are involved in the art of printing from art directors to students majoring art – using over 10 printing plates on a single poster which is hardly implementable through usual printing. We succeeded in re-recognizing the value of poster by recreating the solid textures which cannot be expressed through screen.
