Brief Explanation

Professional Surfboarder Grant "Twiggy" Baker talks about himself being a pioneer who always strives to push the boundaries of what's possible on a surfboard. His voice leads us over shots of him preparing himself and his board, facing the ocean on the shore before he surfs the huge waves of North Shore, Hawaii.

Results

The mission was to create a dramatic narrative of facing danger on a daily basis. Usually, videos featured on events do not have the same budget scope compared to extensive advertising. Our challenge was to find the right place to shoot aerial and underwater footage of a top surfboarder without breaking the bank. Luckily, we found the right team to pull this off in North Shore, Oahu, Hawaii. Shot in February, with a volcano eruption taking place on one of the other islands, the window to shoot under perfect condition was extremely limited. Thanks to a great talent in front of the camera and a flawless performance from the technical team, we managed to fly home to Singapore with footage that we easily could have used 80-90 percent off. Our Editor had a hard time cutting out some amazing shots that unfortunately did not make it to the final cut.
