Brief Explanation

It’s 103 seconds film in which two French chefs cook genuine French cuisine using the heat inside a car and the car body heated by the hot summer sun. Driving a classic 1973 Toyota Corona Mark II van Deluxe, the two chefs head for the beach in midsummer. They start cooking when it reaches the highest temperature of the day, and bake a chicken sauté with cast-iron pan attached under the seat. Then, they make ratatouille with a pan inside the dashboard, crisp bacon in the heated foil, and so on. Because summer of Japan is very hot, the client "JMS", the third biggest auto car part shop chain in Japan, decided to offer "Cool Drive" services for comfortable driving with a cooler environment.

The Brief

We set up all the cooking tools in the food truck with no air conditioning, a Toyopet Corona Mark ? from 1973 model. We designed the interior with strong preferences by setting the hot plate behind the seat back and putting the cooking tools in every corner of the truck so it looks charming. Eventually it increased the quality of art direction in this film. With French cuisine, French casts, and French jokes we successfully made the film as if we have shot in France, but the whole movie was actually shot in the rural area in Japan, and we were able to shoot within ten million yen of production cost.
