The Japan International Birdman Rally, which is a flight competition for handmade man-powered aircrafts, was held for the 38th time this year. This short animation was created as part of the promotion campaign for the Rally. It depicts the participants’ straightforward passion for the sky with a simple touch. Using the human evolution diagram as a metaphor, the work tells the story of the hardships, conflicts, and mental growth that participants will go through in preparation for the Rally. These are things that cannot be understood merely by watching the program. The work appealed to the audience that the program’s content can draw sympathy not only from airplane lovers, but from all people in the midst of challenges as well.
