In this film a 10yr boy, who looks as if he’s been living rough, begins eating out of a rubbish bin in a busy Auckland street. Over 35 minutes of filming around 550 people had the opportunity to see him and only 10 intervened. The scenario was selected based on the Police priorities for 2016/17. The New Zealand Police sought out help affect key issues prevalent in New Zealand communities particularly At-risk Youth, Mental Health, Drink Driving and Family Violence. Given these issues are also widely discussed in the media we focused on scenarios which would resonate contextually with society today, to test to see if New Zealanders would actually intervene when faced with them in reality.
