The Campaign

We developed a 15mins short movie featuring the concept “Single Belief” by cooperating with two top movie directors in Taiwan, Lee Kang­Sheng and Tsai Ming­Liang who can perfectly represent our concept. For many years, these 2 directors’ visual languages were too special to please the general public. However, they are not afraid of criticism and never change their belief just to satisfy general interest. In the end, they proved themselves to be world class movie makers, and received many international awards. Our short movie is to depict these two directors’ strong single belief that they always follow. They also perfectly embody The Glenlivet’s whiskey-making spirit of “Single Belief”, which has never changed since 1824.

Creative Execution

We put actor among general public in a crowded street in Ximending, where is one of the most popular local spots in Taipei and the place where the director shot his first movie. He just held on to his position, no matter what happened, he remained stand­still. We used Lee's motionless action to express their forever unchanged belief in their own concept in movie­making. Besides this 15mins short movie which will be screened in Ximending theaters, we also produced a 1 min, internet film and 3 x 20 seconds short versions.

The “first-ever Movie-whisky-tasting experience” won coverage in major film, fashion, and boutique magazines, as well as word-of-mouth praise from fellow agencies and whisky lovers alike. It also allowed consumers to more profoundly experience The Glenlivet’s brand spirit.

Have you ever seen a movie where the lead actor doesn’t move at all? Have you ever been to a cinema that offers whisky tasting? This is a movie, expressing the creative concept of not letting external noise affect the original creative vision. This is also a commercial video, conveying The Glenlivet’s whisky-making spirit of “Single Belief”, which has never changed since 1824. We combined movies and whisky into a brand-new experience. Experience the timeless taste of The Glenlivet Whisky with all your five senses.

We invited a pair of film collaborators who have garnered attention and controversy—and won numerous international awards—to return to the site of their first film, Ximending. Using an experimental performance method, the people in the scenes move around as usual, but the actor remains completely stationary. This expresses the creative concept that, although the world is changing around him, he will remain the same. The commercial film was made just like a movie. Before screening, a series of trailers were broadcast, and famous movie stars and critics attended the premier. In Ximending, we even built Taiwan’s first-ever “whisky-tasting cinema”, the only cinema where the film was shown. We even designed movie tickets and invitations especially for the event, and served whisky-flavored popcorn. Everyone could taste a variety of whiskies as they experienced The Glenlivet’s “Single Belief”.
