BOY: (L) I dribbled the ball, first my left foot (R) then my right. (L) One step over (R) followed by another. (L) and then planted my left foot into the ground (R) and was just about to score the goal with my right— (L) when the world exploded.
SFX: EXPLOSION
SFX: HEART BEAT MONITOR BEEP
BOY: (L) I woke up in the hospital. (L) I was left with just one leg. (L) I learnt to stand on it. (L) But not play football on it. (L) Not run with my friends. (L) Not climb stairs. (L) Not walk to school.
SFX: [ATMOS] EXTERIOR.
BOY: (L) Until Handicap International visited me. (L) They measured my left leg, and made me a matching (R) right leg. (L) Step (R) by step (L) I learnt to put one foot (R) after the other. (L) Stum– (R) –bling. (L) Fal– (R) –ling.
BOY: But at least, standing on my own two feet again.
