Brief Explanation

A man and wife are driving along a road in a truck. As the wife goes on about how pleased she is with her make up, the man keeps quiet - careful not to say anything that might lead to an argument. He needs all the help he can get to not say a word and keep the peace.

Creative Execution

We open on a midshot of a man behind the wheel of a truck. He’s driving casually along … but as he looks to the side, he’s taken aback by something. We can hear a woman’s voice talking. FVO: My new lipstick is so nice! The man struggles not to look to his left. But his eyes keep darting from the front to the side. FVO: How do I look? FVO: Gorgeous right? The man’s hands reach downward for something. He quickly shoves some chewing gum in his mouth and starts chewing. FVO: So beautiful. Cut to the passenger seat and we see his wife, dolled up with too much makeup. The white powder stands out against her dark skin while the over-applied red blusher on her cheeks looks strikingly comical. Even her eyelids spot multi-coloured hews. She snaps at her husband. FVO: Say something, don’t be so quiet. Cut back to the husband, who’s focused squarely on just driving, and chewing his gum. FVO: Come on, say something! Cut to a midshot of the pair, with the husband still chewing and driving while the wife admires herself in a pocket mirror. SUPER: DON’T SAY SOMETHING YOU’LL REGRET. The pack appears in the centre of the frame. SUPER: KEEP YOUR MOUTH BUSY.
