We shortlisted 18 genres of photography (landscape, portraits, wildlife, etc) and identified the best settings on manual mode which would give a perfect picture of that genre under natural lighting. We placed the photo settings in an attractive infographic format and also added a picture for users to compare. We created 18 Cheatsheets and posted them on Nikon India and Nikon School’s facebook pages. These Cheatsheets were posted twice a week and the idea was to promote them organically.
The Nikon Cheatsheets saw a breathtaking response - with a Unique Reach score of 800,000 and all of it was organic! Nikon School workshops soon adopted the Cheatsheets as a reference guide for beginners. Even the Nikon Singapore team took note, and Nikon Cheatsheets now feature globally, on 10 public pages, reaching out to more than 8 MILLION fans!
Objective: To create a unique content which is meaningful and shareable Most of the new D-SLR users click pictures using automatic settings and not manual settings. Reason being – they are unsure of the settings most of times and they usually click pictures on the go. With automatic settings atleast they can get a perfect picture, whereas Manual settings to them seem a hassle and they are not sure the picture will come out perfectly. That’s not how you use a D-SLR! The idea was to create a content piece which will give the user that one particular setting which under natural conditions can be used to capture a perfect shot of a particular genre. Since it was shortcut to a capture a perfect picture, we named it Nikon Cheatsheet.
