Despite the popularity of Word, many users are not aware of the various functions and the utility of the software. The objective of the initiative was to deliver the possibilities and the performance of Word beyond a word processor.
Microsoft Word is the most popular, and the most common word processing software in the world.
Our idea was to create a picture book of ‘Snow White’ only by using the pre-installed objects, patterns, and visuals of Word, to show the graphical potential of Word, and to expand the occasions of where Word could be used. By printing on paper (despite the digital features of the product), the promotion was differentiated from many digital promotions that flood in our world.
The picture book effectively delivered the multiple functions of Word in a new and unique way, and provoked interest of business people, as well as designers who are not currently heavy users of Word. The promotion provided Word with a new possibility of expression, and revealed a new potential of the standard software beyond word processing. The work was highly recognized by designers in Japan as a new challenge without using professional software for design, and Word regained social interest beyond business scenes.
