Brief Explanation

We wanted to create an inspiring and unexpected Christmas gift to say thank you and Season's Greetings to our clients, partners and friends. Tired of the standard printed Christmas card or gif, we needed to create a unique idea that would genuinely spread some joy at this special time of year.

The Brief

Landor is a global leader in brand consulting and design, helping clients create agile brands that thrive in today's dynamic, disruptive marketplace. Our work enables top brands—from Barclays to BMW and Tide to Taj—to stand for something while never standing still. Landor's branding services include strategy and positioning, identity and design, brand architecture, innovation, naming and verbal branding, research and analytics, environments and experience, engagement and activation, and digital and social media. Founded by Walter Landor in 1941, Landor pioneered many of the research, design, and consulting methods that are now standard in the branding industry.

How the final design was conceived

Surrounded by designers wearing hipster beards we were struck by the realisation that one man owns the coolest beard ever. We scoured the country for every available red moleskin, screen printed it in snowy white and simple instructions on how to wear and share. No complex production, no ethnography, no user research – just loads of relevance.

Indication of how successful the outcome was in the market

It's the lowest cost, highest impact self promotion project to date. We spread joy around the world, a little like Santa himself.
