SUMA4D is a system linking each individuals’ smartphones with the movie. The phone vibrates, flashes, and even gets a call when the actor rings in the film! SUMA4D turns movie theaters into interactive horror attraction. This experience does not end in the theater. Back at home in midnight, the phone receives a call from the ghost, just like in the film.
SUMA4D has created a whole new movie experience, resulting as a hot topic in over 100 TV programs. Many people shared this experience on the SNS with a photo of their frightend face, which was taken secretly during the movie. In addition, the phone call from the ghost generated a buzz on the SNS. Finally, the number of moviegoers jumped up to 270% compared to the same movie with only 3D stereographics.
The core purpose of this app is “to increase the number of moviegoers”. Today, watching movies is more of an in-home experience. DVDs and online streaming are getting more common to the young, causing decrease in amount of moviegoers. Considering this background, to achieve the goal of increasing the number of moviegoers, we concluded that there was a need to create a new value to the theater experience.
