These little stunts or ambient executions really drove people to open their hearts and wallets. We were able to send a team to Tacloban with art materials as gifts to do workshops for children. More than 300 children were met and given a moment of Joy. During the trip, we had trauma experts school teachers, artists doing little workshops for these kids. Although awareness was done to a niche crowd, this did not stop the project from becoming big for the hearts of these children.
We were able to gather more than 50 pieces of artwork which we decided to use as an ambient piece, a guerrilla execution in art galleries in Metro Manila. Here we believe people are willing to share money, time and ideas, they just needed to see what these kids have done. True enough, when we displayed the art works in Galleries, enthusiasts got surprised and interested. We mixed the Artworks together with real exhibits which gave it an even stronger impact. The surprise, the realisation and the admiration for these images really helped in our campaign.
Tacloban was hit by the biggest storm in the world last November 2013. Thousands of Children suffered but we saw that there is an innate sense of optimism in children. We saw this as a powerful thing and we did a little experiment. We gave survivor kids some crayons to draw over images of the destruction in the city. The result blew us away because they were very powerful and full of hope. This inspired us some more to believe that we should do everything we can in order to help restore or rebuild the spirits of these children who suffered the storm. If people would see these images, they would be moved to help.
