We found our key purpose to be not only finding new way to use their wood material, but also to let people know about the current situation of thinning wood. If it is cut / used regularly, and new wood planted afterwards, it will generate eco-system cycle in mountains.
The client, Big Will, assigned us to create a new product, a way to use their material, thinning wood.
We set our eyes on Oiwai-bukuro, or happiness envelope, a Japanese tool to congratulate ceremonies to carry money and be handed to the host to show that they are happy too. By using wood material to design it, people who will be involved in buying one, handing one and receiving one will wonder, learn and talk about the thinning wood situation.
Via using happy envelope, used for ceremonies, we created new way to use the material, as well as letting people notice the thinning wood situation.
