Execution

In April 2012, V Energy drink assembled a team of technology developers, audio engineers, visual artists, dancers, musicians and a leading music producer, and gave them a challenge . to create a piece of music using only the body's movement. We called it The V Motion Project. The team hacked Microsoft's Kinect motion tracking software combining it with audio software Abelton, to create an instrument that transforms the body's movement into sounds. That data was also captured & used to create bespoke live visuals projected outdoor on a huge scale. These visuals played a key role in demonstrating that the technology was real and actually being played live. On June 16th, The V Motion Project showcased its new technology with a live outdoor performance in downtown Auckland. The motion artist played the full piece of music with his movements triggering animations projected onto a 12x30m wall as the music played through huge speakers stacks. The event was covered live on national TV and radio, witnessed & recorded by hundreds of spectators, and uploaded to YouTube and Facebook. The technology and performance has since been activated at music festivals, gaming conferences, cinema premieres, and other V sponsored events. There has also been huge worldwide attention with some of the world's most creative companies enquiring about V Motion Project performances, including TED, the Discovery Channel, Microsoft, Warner Bro's Music and Disney.
