A little girl is making something with the white blocks. When she places the figures down, the world of blocks come to life. All of a sudden, darkness begins to chase the figures and the girl looks around in panic. She has found some colorful blocks. When she puts the block down in front of the looming darkness, the block becomes a waterwheel. Through the power of water, it turns the darkness back to white. After that, the power of wind and sunlight return the world to its once white state. Finally, color spreads throughout the block world by the power of nature.
The Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011 was a turning point for Japan's energy policy, which had relied heavily on nuclear power. Renewable energy will be the key factor in Japan's energy policy shift. To promote this little known energy, we created an image film in the motif of toy blocks, which most Japanese people have played with during childhood. Just as the blocks take shape piece by piece, each one of our hopes shape the future of our society. We use 100,000 blocks, released the shutter 2,300 times and took over 500 hours for producing.
