In China, a boy is considered a clan's true descendent because he carries the family name, while a girl does not. Ever since China's 'one-child' policy, parents always choose to terminate pregnancy once ultrasound confirms that it's a girl in the womb. This has been going on for decades, and every year, about 1 in every 5 baby girls are killed before they are even born. 'Because I Am A Girl' is an initiative by PLAN International to help girls around the world. BIAAG is determined to stop this gender massacre by reminding parents that their daughters have a right to grow up.
